1. Shuttle Bus from/to Hanoi Airport

Route: Hanoi Airport Hanoi City Center

Duration: 1h 15min

Costs: 40.000 VND (€1,50)

You can choose between several shuttle buses which depart just outside of the arrival terminal. There are shuttle buses leaving every 30-45 minutes and most of them cost 40.000 VND (€1,50). The shuttle bus you take does not have to be the same as your airline. Except with Jetstar where you need to check with the company first.

Vietjet Air Shuttle

When you stay in the Old Quarter, ask the driver to drop you off at “Nguyen Thai Hoc” or “Quang Trung Street” (near Hoan Kiem Lake).

Route: Nội Bài airport – Thăng Long Bridge – Hoàng Quốc Việt – Đào Tấn – Nguyễn Thái Học – Quang Trung – Trần Nhân Tông.

Vietnam Airlines Shuttle Bus

Vietnam Airlines has long provided shuttle bus transfer to/from Noi Bai Airport. You don’t need to fly with Vietnam Airlines but you can go on Vietnam Airlines shuttle bus Hanoi. The bus leaves every 30-45 minutes from 4.00AM to 21.00PM for Hanoi downtown to Airport and Noi Bai airport to Hanoi will follow the Vietnam Airlines flight schedule.

Vietnam Airlines uses 16-seat minivan for a shuttle bus transfer. Pick up and drop off at 1 Quang Trung street, Hoan Kiem (near Hoan Kiem lake). Also at Noi Bai airport Vietnam airlines bus parked in front of the inland terminal. You can easy to find the bus if you flight with Vietnam Airlines as it’s scheduled following Vietnam airlines flights.

The scheduled route currently runs along Nhat Tan Bridge – Vo Nguyen Giap – Noi Bai Road to shorten the airport to 30 minutes. On route Noi Bai to Hanoi, If you want to be dropped any place on the way, just ask the driver or bus assistance. But on way to the airport, you need to go to 1 Quang Trung street to catch the Vietnam airlines shuttle bus. Ask the bus driver to drop you off along the road when you are close to your accommodation. The end station is “1 Quang Trung street” (near Hoan Kiem lake).

In case you didn’t fly with Jetstar you have to ask at the airport if you can use their shuttle service but usually, this is not a problem.

End station and pick up station is “206 Tran Quang Khai” (close to Hoan Kiem lake).

2. Hanoi Airport Public Bus

Route: Hanoi Airport Hanoi City Center

Duration: 1h 30min

Costs: 7.000 VND (€0,20)

Time: every 15-20 minutes from 5 am to 10 pm. 

From the airport, there are two public buses leaving every 20 minutes from 5am to 10pm. You will find the bus stop on the right side of the terminal exit and the bus takes about one hour to the end station in Hanoi. From there it is a 20-30 minute walk or bus ride to the Old Quarter.

Hanoi city buses number 7 and 17 connect Noi Bai Airport with Hanoi city center.

Bus 7: the airport to Kim Ma bus station.

Drop-off /pick-up at Kim Ma bus station.

Bus 7 will bring you to Kim Ma bus station, from where it is about a 30-minute walk or a 20-minute bus ride to the Old Quarter. From Kim Ma bus station you can take a taxi or one of the several buses which drop you off next to the Old Quarter for 7.000 VND (€0,30). One of the options to Old Q is changing to bus 18 and asking the driver to get off at Phùng Hưng 167 or 115 (7.000 VND, €0,30).

Bus 17: the airport to Long Bien bus station

Drop-off /pick-up at Long Bien bus station.

Bus 17 brings you to Long Bien bus station, from where you can walk in 20 minutes to Old Quarter or take a short taxi ride to your accommodation. This way you avoid the airport fees for taxis and only have to pay for a short taxi ride.

The bus stop is just on the right side of the terminal exit. 


3. Hanoi Airport Minibus

Airport Minibus offers transportation directly to your hotel or residence in Hanoi.

Airport Minibus one way trip to Vietnam Airlines Office on Quang Trung in Hanoi city center costs VND 22,000 for Vietnamese or VND 32,000 (US$2) for foreigners.

Fares to other destinations in Hanoi are higher (US$4). Make sure to confirm destination and fare before boarding the minibus.

Minibusses leave the airport when full.

Minibus to the airport departs from opposite the Vietnam Airlines Office on Quang Trung in Hanoi city center.


4. Hanoi Airport Public Taxi

Route: Hanoi Airport Hanoi City Center 

Duration: 1 hour

Costs: 200,000 - 350,000 VND (€7-€13)

Take a taxi the whole way from Hanoi to Noi Bai HAN Airport is also an option; it’s straightforward and can be arranged in many places, but is very costly compared to the shuttles. Almost any Hanoi hotel can book a taxi for you or a tour agency around town for about 300,000 – 350,000 VND. So remember to make a BARGAIN. 

Metered Taxis are available on the arrivals level at both Domestic and International terminals.

Taxi fare is charged according to taxi meter. Traveling from the center to the airport is cheaper and only costs around 200,000-250,000 VND.
